Jasmine - It is a widely used and known essential oil for anxiety stress and depression. It has stimulating effects on brain improving mood and energy levels.
Lavender - It is the most popular essential oil. IT helps ease anxiety and stress so much that the researchers at Royal Berkshire hospital NHS Trust use it on patients in ICU.
The efficacy of aromatherapy of lavender is thought to be due to the psychological effects of the fragrance combined with the physiological effects of volatile oils in the limbic system.54 These calming effects of lavender oil and single constituents may be the origin of the traditional use of lavender. Lavender oil olfaction has been shown to decrease anxiety, as measured by the Hamilton rating scale,51 and can increase mood scores
Bergamot - According to one 2015 systematic review, inhaling Bergamot Essential Oil has an anxiety-reducing effect. Also, in a 2013 study, it was found that aromatherapy with bergamot essential oil reduced anxiety in people awaiting minor surgeries.
Cypress - An enhancer, along with above essential oils, Cypress is known to have calming effects on the mind.

How does Aromatherapy work?
Your olfactory sense is directly linked to your limbic system of the brain which deals with emotions and memories.
This makes smell unique among our senses. Information we take in from our other senses travels first to another region of the brain, the thalamus, which acts as a relay station, passing along sensory data to the other parts of the brain that produce our sensory perceptions. Only smell moves directly to the brain’s emotion and memory center. That’s why those memories you associate with the scent of garden roses, or banana bread baking in the oven, come on so quickly and so strongly.
Which is why, your brain will start releasing dopamine and other hormones aided by these essential oils, creating a healthy habit.
Plants synthesize chemicals for various reasons like photosynthesis, reproduction, Defence, etc. These chemicals have lots of therapeutic and healing properties. These chemicals are called phytochemicals and they act holistically on our body.
Our body recognizes, understands and accepts these plant chemicals at the cellular level, thus healing us from within as well as physically.
